4 years in Axis2 ...

>> Monday, August 18, 2008

I can still remember 22nd August, 2004 where we had our first Axis2 face-2-face in Colombo. Its been four years now and I'm really proud of what we have achieved so far. When I look at our dev and user mailing lists, it is obvious that there are lots of people running the code we wrote. And now user list is self-maintaining without the original developers, which is cool !!

Its not only the project that has evolved, even the people who got involved are now pursuing further research. When I joined the team, as a research engineer, there were 5 more guys in the core team, joined as research engineers. With Deepal arriving US to start his grad studies this Fall, all 6 of us [Srinath (IU), Chathura (IU), Jaliya (IU), Ajith (Wright State), Deepal (Georgia Tech)] are now in grad school.

Even my friends who joined bit later, Thilina (IU), Ruchith (Purdue) and Dasarath (Purdue) are also in grad school. Isn't it great to see success of a project together with the success of the team involved?

At this point I should thank all the people who made with happen, including Dr. Sanjiva, Dims, Glen and Paul.

Coincidently 5 out of 6 guys met once again, yesterday (24th), at a Sri Lankan get-together in Indianapolis, IN.
