People always try to find the magic solution that fits all their requirements. Cloud is no difference.<br /><br />Eventually and again, they will realize we need different solutions to different problems.<br /><br />Cloud is good for most pleasingly parallel problems(scientific or not) while MPI and the supercomputers can keep save their marriage by keep executing complex parallel applications.

I will have to follow up on this. Suffice to say our local supercomputer site hates long-lived MPI apps as you can't guarantee an 8000 core supercomputer kees the nodes up long enough for a 10 day MPI job to complete
